For the sides I wanted a subtle wood finish. Parts Express offers a line of commercial quality vinyl veneers. I chose a light beachwood grain. This stuff is not something you just slap on. There's a definite process to applying this material that can only be done well if you follow the supplied instructions. After taking my time & doing so, the result was a flawless professional finish that I'm really pleased with. Not one wrinkle or bubble.

I added small strips of sound absorbing material both above & below the tweeters. Although these don't add to the speaker's looks any they do perform an important job. As the tweeter sits back from the woofer faceplates, there is a sizable "ledge" that if left untreated would harshly reflect the high energy sound so close to the tweeters. The dampening material absorbs these reflections keeping the very directional highs from bouncing all over & muddying the sound stage.

So that took care of the speakers. After approximately three weeks of work they were complete. Woohoo! There was still one more thing to do though...
