Orange Ice
Ice Storm Shot Under Street Light

Fairfield, Connecticut, USA
February 2007

Wanting to get some use from my tripod, I figured I'd have a go at some nocturnal photography. Venturing outside I was greeted to freezing rain which turned out to be one nasty ice storm. Unperturbed I shot the following.

The intense orange of sodium street lights resulted in a bizarre winter wonderland. The resulting photographs look more like they were shot on Mars. This could have been corrected using the camera's white balance but in this case, the weird colouring was what makes these photos interesting.

Canon G5
