Check here for news & information generated during the pond's first month of construction.
After some time spent tinkering around with various designs & possible locations for a pond we finally broke ground & started construction. You can view illustrations & photographs of the work in progress in the Concept & Construction sections of this site.
We ordered three tons of rock for the pond today. We're expecting delivery on Tuesday. Hopefully that should be enough to line the edge & to cover the upper pond's wall. If not we kinda have permission to collect some rocks from a local construction site.
Plants & Fishies
OK so we got a little ahead of ourselves & began adding some plants & a few fish to the pond even though its far from complete. Hopefully they will survive the trauma of the rest of the construction process but if not, we can always replace them.
The Rock is Here!
With a house shaking thud, three tons of Desert Creek stone was delivered today. You can check it out here.
The Upper Pond is Done
After reworking the upper pond's size & design we were able to get it up & running over the last couple of days. We connected up all the plumbing & now have a dual pond system complete with waterfall.
The neighbor's cat Tabby pays the pond a visit. Check that out in the fish section.
Few More Plants
Today we received some plants in the mail.
Parts & More Parts
I added a parts list section to this site to help document the project's cost & to help anyone who is looking to do something similar.
We redesigned our waterfall & after some tinkering we cemented its stones into semi-permanant position with black expanding foam. You can check that out here.
are Doing Well
We re-potted & divided up many of our plants recently. They all seem to be doing well. Our Water Lilly bulb even sprouted some leaves.
The construction section of this site is getting fairly large so I added a table of contents to help people revisiting this site skip ahead to the new stuff.
